WSOC: Pacers reach season's first victory

The USC Aiken women’s soccer team scored their first victory this Saturday afternoon, when they played against Albany State with a 5-4 win in overtime.

This improved the Pacers’ record for the season to 1-6 overall, including now 1-1 in league play.

Willa Olson, one-half of the Olson twins who play on the team, scored two goals in the win, including the winning goal in overtime.

After a goal from Olson, the Pacers trailed 2-1 in the first half, but with Mia Maupin and Jourdan Gruber each netting a goal, leaving Aiken a 3-2 lead.

The Golden Rams battled back to take back the lead to a 4-3 advantage, but Georgia Fisher scored, leaving a 4-4 score.

In overtime, Olson scored the final game-winner, marking the third in her career.

The Pacers will return to action on Wednesday, Oct. 9, when they play at Flagler in the PBC at 4 p.m
