University to move offices during renovation

University to move offices during renovation

The semester is reaching its end with class periods ending Dec 6. A project in the Penland building, however, will be beginning that same day.

The HVAC system, which includes heating, air conditioning and ventilation, will be renovated and updated to a more efficient and “green” system, according to the chancellor in an email early last year regarding new funding for the 2019 school year.

A number of offices in this building will be moved to temporary locations until the end of the spring 2020 semester.

With the relocation of offices, other university areas will be temporarily used as offices to accommodate the Penland building’s offices and services.

Downtown spaces belonging to the university, such as Pacer Alley, will not be available during Phase one of the renovation. The Economic Development Partnership will be using those spaces instead.

The end of the first phase will take place late in the spring semester and offices will return to their original locations.

The list of communication lines and office spaces that are being relocated were provided in an email sent by the Senior University Facilities Executive Brian Enter, P.E.
