ACE Club encourages inclusive environment

The ACE club is designed to encourage and welcome students who are first generation college students.

A first generation college student is one whose parents or guardians have not completed a two-year or four-year college degree. They may even be the first in their family to attend a higher-level institution. ACE club members are determined to see the next two to four years through.

Dr. Stacie Williams, the ACE Club faculty adviser, said that her aim is to make students feel welcome, whether they are ACE members or not. In a recent meeting, ACE club members expressed interest in community service and team-bonding events. They even had a scholarship giveaway last semester.

Their goal for the spring semester is to have informative workshops that give helpful locations, such as the nurse’s office and the counseling center, for example.

Non-ACE students are welcomed to join in support of their peers and to bring awareness.  Click here to sign up for the ACE club.
