Student Feature: Mason Spires

Mason Spires is a junior, political science major here at the University of South Carolina-Aiken.

He is actively involved within the student life office and serves in numerous leadership positions. He is driven and inspired by those who have come before him. “I have tried to get involved quite a bit during my time here, in the hopes of being able to help as many students— in the way that other student leaders [who are gone now] helped me,” said Spires.

He is currently the student coordinator of leadership programs, assistant teacher to the Emerging Leaders course, the Vice President of SGA and the President of the Delta Sigma Phi. According to Spires, each of these groups, opportunities and experience have positively impacted him and shaped him into who he is today. “What I have realized about being a student leader is that it has absolutely nothing to do with me. It is my duty to serve others and to make every organization, class, group, or initiative as positive as I can,” said Spires.
