The ball is open to all
The Unity Club is hosting a ball this Friday March 22nd from 7-11 p.m. in the SAC Mezz.
This is the second ball the Unity Club has hosted. The theme this year is a Masquerade Ball.
According to Jenesis Garcia, Vice President of the Unity Club, the ball functions for multiple reasons:
“A lot of members is [sic] Unity were not able to attend their prom for multiple reasons such as: the ticket price being to [sic] much, their school not allowing same sex couples to go together, or the timing was just wrong. This was a “re-do” prom of sorts. To give people the opportunity to get a chance to go on their own terms.”
Garcia expresses the greatest thing people will miss out on, should they choose not to attend, is the missing the “chance for community on campus.”
“Unity plans these events so that when someone looks out into the sea of college students they can recognize their friends, allies, confidants, and USCA family members. With this event to making the next step to achieve something like that.”
Everyone is welcome at the Unity Ball. Unity welcomes all who are LGBTQ+ and Allies to attend.
Garcia remarks that with additional funding from Aiken After Dark, the Unity Club is hoping for a “big and better celebration.”
Attendance is free for all USCA and guests cost $10 each. Student ID’s are required for entrance into the ball. Food and drinks are provided.
The Unity Club welcomes everyone to enjoy a taste of prom in the college setting.
