Inexpensive spring break ideas
Spring break is around the corner!
This year, be sure to stay safe during spring break and most importantly, don’t blow your savings! Spring break doesn’t have to be expensive. There are numerous ways to have a great time next week and still return to class with something left from your financial aid refund.
For day or weekend trips:
All within a three hour drive from Aiken, Savannah, GA has a gorgeous and historical downtown area that can be navigated easily. Savannah is also about a 25 minute drive from Tybee Island, SC, which is perfect for relaxing on the beach before hitting Savannah’s awesome food scene!
A hidden South Carolina gem, Edisto Beach, SC is a quiet beach with easy parking access. Edisto Beach also allows fishing on the beach in certain areas. Go get some seaside pizza at La Retta’s and watch the sunset!
Asheville, NC, is a lively town with inexpensive Airbnb options near the downtown area. Also a college town, Asheville has plenty of affordable activities for college students during spring break. Hiking in the Blue Ridge is a perfect way to spend your break!
For staycations:
The lake located in the Clarks Hill area is about 35 minutes from campus, which is perfect for taking some friends and making a day, or several days out of. There are picnic tables and areas for lounging and grilling, a cooler and some towels will be all you need!
The Aiken-Augusta area has designated areas where bonfires are allowed, make some phone calls and find out which area works for you and your friends. Bring some chairs, maybe a guitar, sit around the fire during this cool weather with good friends!
Riverview Park Activities Center in North Augusta has a disc golf course, try your hand (or wrist) at something new!
Don’t be afraid to stay home and read those books you’ve had on your list, practice your instrument, or dedicate time to whatever your hobby may be.
Again, stay safe this coming week and return to campus refreshed and ready with some great memories from spring break 2019!
