Women's Volleyball remains undefeated
The USC Aiken woman’s volleyball team showed their skills once again at the “Pacer Invitational” this weekend, defeating all four opposing teams.
USCA went against Erskine in the first game. Pacers Christine Carroll, Kayla Duggan and Alie Smith registered nine kills each. Carroll hit a .562, while Duggan hit .533. Abbey Schad contributed seven kills and three aces while hitting .462.
In Friday’s second match the Pacers went against the Argonauts from University of West Florida. Duggan led this time with 13 kills and 19 digs. Teammate Smith posted a double-double with 12 kills and 16 digs. Carroll slammed home 10 kills, had six blocks and tallied three digs. Anita Cookey notched seven kills to her record.
For Saturday afternoon’s matches, the team posted a pair of sweeps against Converse and Valdosta State to win the Pacer Invitational.
Against Converse, Alie Smith led the team with 12 kills and 14 digs to go along with a match-best three aces. Carroll totaled nine kills and a block, while Abbey Schad totaled six kills without a miscue. Kayla Duggan continued to impress, posting seven kills while also notching 10 digs.
In Emily Duggan’s first collegiate action, she came in to replace her sister in the final set.
In the last match of the invitational, the Pacers set to seal the deal and remain undefeated. Schad led the way, posting a .778 attack percentage with 14 kills. This marks the third-highest attack percentage in USCA’s school history. Carroll was right behind her, hammering home 13 kills.
Bell garnered 39 assists, along with seven digs. Rebecca Martinez led everyone with 21 digs, while Emily Duggan and Alie Smith added 15 and 10, respectively.
The Pacers will return to the court on Saturday, Sept. 28, when they host Flagler at 2 p.m.
