South Carolina re-opening beaches and small businesses

South Carolina re-opening beaches and small businesses

Due to the novel coronavirus, beaches and non essential businesses were closed in order to stop the spread of the virus.

Recently, South Carolina Governor Henry McMaster re-opened the docks and boat ramps.

McMaster is allowing beaches to reopen and easing some of the restrictions.

Isle of Palms, Sullivan’s Island, Folly Beach and Edisto Beach have all decided to maintain checkpoints and restrict some access to the beaches.

North Myrtle Beach and Horry County are open to beach-goers, but beach patrol will be out on both beaches to ensure social distancing is still being practiced.

Small businesses such as clothing stores, furniture stores, department stores, sporting goods stores, jewelers, flea markets, craft stores, music stores and other nonessential businesses have reopened as well.

The businesses that are reopening are required to follow and abide by the social distancing guidelines.

Part of those guidelines state that, “Stores can bring in either five customers per 1,000 square feet of retail space or 20% of capacity; customers must stay six feet apart; and stores must carry out sanitation steps according to CDC protocol.”
