Act out now: USC Aiken's theatre department to hold auditions
University Theatre Players’ (UTP) auditions will be held Tuesday, Sept. 8, and Wednesday, Sept. 9, in the Etherredge Center’s upper gallery at 6 p.m.
There will be three one-act plays this semester, 30 minutes each, with roles for male and female actors. Applications for backstage jobs will be taken during auditions and all students, regardless of major, are welcome and encouraged by the UTP to audition.
“A prepared monologue, 60 seconds or less is strongly recommended. Although we will have printouts of monologues there for people who don’t have monologues when they come,” said Andrew Randolf, president of the University Theatre Players.
“If you are not a theater major or an arts major, you are very much welcome … We need plenty of design people. We need construction people, electricians and such. The more people show up, the more we can do … It’s an enriching experience,“ said UTP Vice President Angelo Gooch.
“Theater requires a lot of people to put on a show from a lot of different areas, no previous experience required. There is a spot for everyone in theater … no matter what your interest is, it will give you a sense of fulfillment,” Randolf added.
The USCA Theater Department plans for the three shows to be performed without masks, without a live audience, but recorded in order to be streamed for viewing by students for Inter-Curricular Enrichment, or ICE, credit.
