USC Aiken Provost, Dr. Darren Timmons, selected for high honors leadership program
USC Aiken Provost, Dr. Daren Timmons, has been newly selected to participate in the Student Success Institute for Provosts leadership development program. He was one of only 24 candidates selected for this opportunity.
The program allows participants to gain a year of experience in the provost role to improve their leadership skills. In addition, the program will help to develop a provost’s student success approach, teaching skills and equity consciousness.
The overall goal of this program is to give those with leadership roles in universities advanced capabilities to ensure that students have their needs fully met.
According to the program website, “Provosts are critical agents of the chancellor in transforming their institutions to achieve greater student outcomes. Provosts are charged with overseeing the academic enterprise of an institution, while also building and managing effective relationships with their student affairs counterparts.”
With this being the case, it is important that our provost garners these skills and strengthens them. Provosts selected for this honor must demonstrate a commitment to student success. The program website states that an ideal candidate will “seek a network of peers and confidants from which to share with and learn from.”
The program will begin on Dec. 16.
