USCA E-Sports
Not everyone knows what ESports really is. Well lets talk about that to start off, when you think about it; ESports are video gamers who compete with other people and its not a face to face type of program.
This year USC Aiken is being sponsored by Peach Belt Conference ( aka: PBC ) which is a company that allows them to compete with other people. It’s not just an online gaming type of thing where you can just play video games, this type of program is made for those who want to work as a team, strategies but at the same time have fun.
Well, let’s start with Valorant first. This is a first person shooter game where others connect with each other, enjoy themselves, create a leadership, and the person with the most points obviously wins the game. Next up is The Rocket League, so this is different from Valorant because Rocket League is a video game that is similar to playing soccer accept here there is no personal contact as well. This video uses cars instead of players but a soccer ball is involved just the players are replaced with using cars. This may sound Complicated but it’s really not once you understand how to play it. For Rocket league there are 2vs2 or 3vs3 games and each car has a time limit to score. This is a game with hand coronation, creativity, and a team building exercise.
An upcoming events for the ESports team is Wednesday Sep. 14th and is called The Falls Guy Event.
One person in charge of this event is Richy (Appa) Modugu, who serves as the Secretary for this organization. Back in 2019 Esports won a lot scholarship money towards the school which made Modugu want to be involved because he wanted to invest his time and still hoping to continue to win more scholarship money for the school till this day.
“I definitely see myself continue doing this for the future” Modugu states.
He is majoring in Computer Science and plans on getting his Bachelor's Degree for that, deals with graphic design and 3D modeling, and says that “those type of skills help me when it comes to video game developing and this could help so many other people out there who want to get involved too”.
One thing Modugu would like to say to all those people who want this kind of degree and to be apart of this type of program/ teamwork is “Develop skills early on so you can get a head start”.
It is better to have plenty of skills that could be useful in the future rather then have none at all to use.
