Items to Make Dorm Living Easier
Living in a dorm is vastly different than living at home. Dorm living can be stressful, uncomfortable and a down right hassle.
Here are some cheap and easy to find items that could take your dorm experience to the next level.
A mattress topper- Campus mattresses are uncomfortable and annoying to sleep on. Getting a mattress topper can add next level comfort to a terrible mattress.
*Extra tip: get some extra pillows that can be used to lean back on or prop up your computer!*
A mini vacuum- Nothing too expensive, just something to help clean up your room here and there.
*If your roommates want to share, split the cost and get a higher quality vacuum!*
Decor- Make your dorm room stylish and cozy. Add some wall art, pictures, color or string lights!
*Check out dollar tree, pop shelf or walmart for cute and cheap options to stay on budget!*
Storage bins- Life savers when you’re trying to organize. Try using them to sort clothes of different types!
*Hanging storage is also AMAZING for keeping your closet neat and organized!*
Desk lamp- You wouldn’t want your roommate to keep a light on while you’re trying to sleep right? A desk lamp can be a lifesaver if you’re up late at night while your roommate is resting.
A fan- Sometimes roommates/suit mates can’t come to an agreement on the temperature. If you are someone who likes it colder, try getting a fan for your side of the room!
Phone card holder- Okay, this isn’t necessarily for your dorm, but it can make your life a lot easier. Keep your student ID in the phone card holder and you’ll most likely never lose it!
Power strip/surge protector- You’re going to have to share a limited amount of outlets, so a power strip/surge protector is a must.
Coffee maker- If you enjoy coffee, a small coffee pot that can sit on your desk (or night stand) is a perfect addition to your dorm.
*Walmart has a programmable five cup coffee pot for under $25!*
Window planters- Do you want some greenery in you dorm? Maybe something to brighten up the room? Little window planters can help you do just that.
*Succulents and cacti are great dorm plants because you don’t need to water them often!*
