Lack Of Empathy Going Around
Recently, there's a lot of talk in the media about mental health and self-improvement, but it seems like it's all solely focused on the individual. People are so focused on bettering themselves without considering what that really means or how it affects others, which I think is impacting their ability to empathize.
You can't become a better version of yourself without acknowledging and changing certain aspects of yourself, mostly referring to how you treat others and how you let others treat you.
It's like these posts and conversations are creating this misleading mindset of self-reliance, where people think they don't need others. People are resorting to burning bridges the moment things become difficult, before setting boundaries and having open conversations.
As humans, we're naturally social creatures and actually need other people. Our relationships with others fulfill important psychological needs like the need for relatedness which is feeling connected and loved by those around you.
I’ve noticed that many people lack empathy when talking about others and their situations. People say things similar to how someone should have known better or calling them degrading names, simply being judgmental.
It's disheartening to see how some people lack empathy when talking about others. Instead of understanding, they resort to judgment, degrading comments and holding onto a black and white mentality. We need more empathy and compassion in today's society.
I find it sad to beg others to be empathic but consider how your words and actions will affect others. We’re all people with emotions just trying to make it through the day, be kind and empathic.
