A Recap of the Diversity in the Workplace Symposium
On Apr. 11 the Black Alumni Council partnered with the Department of Career Services and Diversity Initiatives to put on their “Diversity in the Workplace” Symposium. The event ran from 3:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and students were able to earn up to two ICE credits for attending.
Along with food being provided students were able to attend a resume building workshop, experience a career panel and at the end there was a keynote speaker, Nola Grant. Grant is a notable Alumni of the University of South Carolina-Aiken and currently serves as Chief Human Resources Officer at Nephron Pharmaceuticals.

The Black Alumni council plans on making this symposium an annual experience for students. This will be a method of helping students to navigate workplace situations and search for jobs that are a good fit for them.
Some upcoming events that the BAC are offering is the scholarship breakfast, which is put on to raise money to offer scholarships to black students. They’re also looking into planning a Black alumni Q&A and for this they plan on partnering with student organizations to increase student turnout. Another notable event will be the annual homecoming tailgate
