Podcast Review: The Broski Report, an Unlikely Comfort Listen

When I’m vacuuming, driving long distances, or feel lonely in the gym I find myself revisiting The Broski Report. For some reason, there is nothing that perks me up in the morning better than a 26-year-old gushing about A Court of Thorns and Roses (ACOTAR), Call of Duty Characters, and her authorship of various fanfictions across different platforms.

“Fearless Leader” Brittney Broski aka Brittney Alexis Tomilson, has carved out an online presence that allows her to reach a wide audience, which Miss Broski refers to as “Broski Nation”.

The topics covered are pop culture-centered and dynamic as the host can never stay on one stream of consciousness. An example of where Brittney is particularly precocious is reflected well in Episode 38: Having a Literal Meltdown Over Meeting Beyonce where she passionately recounts meeting Beyonce at a hair product launch event. Britney never seemed to get used to her newfound fame and reacted exactly how I would when talking about the celebrities that I have spent my life admiring from afar.

“When I like something, I go balls deep... When I like something I’m to the hilt!”

Britney also comments on what music, artists, movies, and other media she consumes and remains extremely vocal about how it affects not only her but the online culture in general. Topics such as Hozier’s Unreal Unearth Album have been analyzed and compared to Dante’s Inferno classic literature book while visiting “Eddiville” (under the influence of edible CBD). Furthermore, Brittney has explored more serious topics such as religion and her relationship with faith growing up in a predominantly evangelical area. Though each episode is peppered with humor and nonsense, the heaviness of the topics from Brittney’s narrative seems approachable and an interesting discussion for those riding with you in your car.

Among those topics, Brittney also explores dating in the modern world, her battle with PCOS, and the growing pains of being in your twenties while being thrust into internet fame.

Britney Broski encapsulates the rushing minds of her audience with fast-paced, disorganized, and humorous banter. This is paired with a well-maintained rapport with fans on social media.

Having The Broski Report play in the background is like being the driver to your funniest friend after a long night out. There is a crassness to the delivery of Britney’s dialogue that feels irreverent that I can’t help but feel at ease.

She showcases unapologetic and unrestricted emotions. There are multiple out-of-context clips on social media not improved by the original recording's context. Trust me, if you want to struggle to keep a straight face when listening to a podcast in the gym or are looking for a violent crash course on current pop culture The Broski Report is for you.

Other projects are her YouTube channel by the same name “Brittney Broski” and her medieval-themed interview series “Royal Court”. For those who wish to have more of her content, you can go to her past projects such as the Violating Community Guidelines podcast. You owe yourself a laugh or at least know what the Kombucha Girl is up to, because yes, that viral meme was Brittney.
