Sorority raises funds with downtown Aiken 5K run

Last Friday Alpha Omicron Pi (ΑΟΠ) sponsored “Run for the Roses,” an annual 5K in downtown Aiken during the Oktoberfest event.

This was ΑΟΠ’s seventh “Run for the Roses” and the fourth year that USC Aiken has partnered with them for the event.

The race was open to the public and 44 people participated this year, ranging in age from 11 to 66.

The leading times were Paul Jackson for males overall, with a time of 19 minutes and 51.59 seconds and Elizabeth Allen for females overall with a time of 26 minutes and 7.17 seconds.

Proceeds from this event benefit the Children’s Hospital of Georgia and the Arthritis Foundation.
