What you need to know about the Coronavirus
The Coronavirus (CONVID-19) is a virus that causes flu-like symptoms and is responsible for roughly 3,000 deaths.
The first two deaths on U.S. soil occurred recently in the state of Washington.
Over 82,000 people have been affected, the majority of which reside in Wuhan, China.
According to The New York Times, CONVID-19 has infected patients in Germany and the United States without known risk factors, meaning the virus is spreading undetected.
The U.S. confirmed a total of 63 patients infected by CONVID-19 in Arizona, California, Illinois, Massachusetts, Wisconsin and Washington.
Officials in California have reported another case of Coronavirus without any known risk factors or exposure to somebody infected.
While CONVID-19 is known to be passed from one person to another, it is still unknown how contagious the virus is.
There has not been a specific treatment developed for the virus.
At least 56 countries have been infected and it seems men have a higher risk of being affected.
Chinese researchers found that deaths among men are higher than women even when men and women have roughly equal chances of being infected.
The virus’s symptoms can include coughing, fever, shortness of breath and in some cases, it can lead to severe respiratory problems, kidney failure or death.
While the closest state to South Carolina with known Coronavirus patients is Illinois, the rate of infection and the lack of information places surrounding states in hesitant positions, leaving administrations wary of procedures.
