Welcome back, Pacers
Students were welcomed back to campus on Jan. 11, and the buildings bustled with students, administration and faculty alike. Still donning masks, people greeted each other with waves and quick words of acknowledgement before settling quickly in their classrooms, on the patio or inside the SAC.
The Pacer Times office has once again been unlocked and moved into, the new setting now becoming a familiar and welcoming space for our returning staff members.
Pacer Times has a few exciting developments this semester. The phrase “the more the merrier” seems to be the motto, because the organization has employed an editor for every section as well as opened a new section for weather updates. Editor-in-Chief Noelle Kriegel will be joined by former copy editor Jillian Hicks in her position, so there is double the leadership and support as Kriegel closes her chapter with the organization. Business Manager Erica Bennett has taken on the role of managing all business for Student Media, absorbing Broken Ink’s and Pacer Times’ budgets and subscriptions to provide a comprehensive guide to Student Media finances.
Beloved (by some!) Pacer Pillowtalk will be returning with a new topic to explore with each week: kinks and safe practicing of them! Sports will be covered more in-depth as the organization welcomes Sage Hales to the editorial board as the sports editor. Don’t worry about Dorm Dash disappearing, Editor Paige Singer plans to continue providing recipes that are dorm-friendly as the staff’s Opinion Editor.
Comments are now being opened on select articles for student feedback; after all, Pacer Times is for the students, by the students — and we can’t wait to hear from them! Each week the editors-in-chief will provide a brief synopsis of published articles for students to review and find articles that cater directly toward them.
Pacer Times extends a warm welcome back to the USC Aiken community and good luck to all students and faculty this semester!
