Why The Princess And The Frog Is The Best Disney Princess Movie Ever
The Princess and The Frog was a hit in my heart but it was a flop everywhere else.
The main plot of the movie is that Tiana is a hardworking woman that wants to save all the money that she can to start her own restaurant like her father had been planning with her before his passing. Since the movie takes place in New Orleans, LA, there has to be a little bit of black witchcraft thrown in for the culture. Dr. Falicier turns Prince Naveen into a frog while giving Naveen’s assistant his body in return for basically selling his soul away. Naveen finds Tiana at “his” wedding and convinces her to kiss him since she is dressed like a princess but since she isn’t she turns into a frog too. This is how they start their frog journey and meet a crocodile named Louis who loves Jazz music and a firefly named Ray.
This movie taught kids many things: not to judge a book by its cover, you’ll find love in places you’ll least expect, you shouldn’t kiss frogs just because you see them and opposites attract!
It was a really big deal for me to be eight years old and finally see a Disney princess that looked the same way that I did, have a movie that showcased some culture that I was familiar with and have the best soundtrack.
Another big thing for me is the soundtrack. If you know, you know. My personal favorite is “Friends On The Other Side”
