Reporting a positive COVID-19 diagnosis helps prevent the spread of inaccurate information

It is up to students to report a positive COVID-19 diagnosis to the COVID Coordinators. It is not up to professors to report these numbers, even after being notified by students. If the COVID Coordinators are not notified, they cannot properly update the COVID-19 dashboard. This is the main information page for students to know the current infection rate on campus.

Aiken County currently has a community level of “medium,” according to the CDC. Individuals who are high risk should discuss with healthcare providers about mask-wearing and other precautions. USC Aiken also recently lowered their severity protocol, only requiring masks in instructional and laboratory environments as opposed to requiring masks in all indoor environments. The COVID-19 testing center on campus will also be closing, with the last day of testing being Saturday, March 12, according to the university’s COVID-19 resources webpage.

Students who test positive should stay home for five days or more if their fever persists. They should also wear masks for an additional five days. Students can report a positive COVID-19 diagnosis to COVIDCoordinators@usca.edu and should do so whenever they receive a positive test result. The COVID-19 Helpline can be reached at 803-641-3271.
