Kali Uchis released “Te Mata” on Oct. 20 for her second upcoming Spanish-language album “Orquídeas” coming Jan. 12, 2024.
The Colombian-American singer and songwriter has always been influenced by bolero styled music. Bolero music is Latin styled typically a slow and danceable romantic song. In her first Spanish-language album “Sin Miedo (del Amor y Otros Demonios),” her first song “La Luna Enamorada” was a bolero ballad.
Throughout her music video, it feels as if you’re watching a telenovela which is a Latin American serial drama or soap opera.
The song “Te Mata” tells a story about how she’s blossoming after a breakup and how she knows her ex is hurting seeing how successful she’s been lately.
From past interviews, many people around Kali didn’t support her idea of releasing her first Spanish-language album due to many of her fans being non-Spanish speakers. In conclusion, Kali Uchis has been taking risks from the beginning and so far has been very successful in the music industry and just keeps thriving.
