Self Care for College Students
Mental health is a big part of college students lives that is why it’s important to have self care day.
From Oxford Languages the meaning of self-care is “the practice of taking an active role in protecting one's own well-being and happiness, in particular during periods of stress”. In my opinion, I believe all college students should take the time to have a self care day or moment in their day just for themselves.
Now you may be wondering what you can do or what form of self care to do. Since we’re all in college money is definitely tight for the majority. I’ll discuss free options and paid options of different types of self care.
There are multiple forms of self care. It all just depends on you and what your interests are. For me personally, different types of self care I enjoy doing are listening to music, nature walks, and lastly online shopping.
Some free options of self care could be if you enjoy drawing, go outside or in your room and sketch, paint, or draw while listening to your favorite tunes. For my bookworms, grab your favorite book or a new one and read. This next idea is for my spiritual group which is meditating which could take place in your bedroom, the beach, or even a park. For my beauty gurus, practice doing new makeup looks. Since we’re all in college you probably think about your future after school so why not create a vision board. This can be created on Pinterest.
These next self care options have to be paid for.
For my women and even men you can go get a manicure and pedicure done at the nail salon because who doesn’t love clean nails. For my online shoppers, do a little retail therapy that can be buying new clothes, shoes, and many other things because “retail therapy is the best therapy.”
Lastly, if you’re of age go out for a drink and a good meal at your favorite restaurant spot.
As you’ve read self care can be multiple things so if you’re overwhelmed, stressed, or having a bad day remember to take care of yourself.
