Movie Review: Fresh
“Fresh” is a Hulu original horror movie.
Noa played by Daisy Edgar-Jones and Steve played by Sebastian Stan fall in love and have a whirlwind romance. From the first date, they both fall into the deep end and start spending all of their time together. This leads to Noa going out of town with Steve after only being together for a short amount of time.
Noa’s best friend Mollie is suspicious of Steve and tries to keep constant tabs on Noa.
The first part of this movie is a bit slow, especially when going into it with the expectations of horror. Although things start slow, the pace picks up very quickly. Noa realizes that something feels off after accepting a beverage from Steve and she passes out.
She eventually wakes up in a cell confused and trapped. Noa is terrified to realize that she has been kidnapped by her lover, but she is even more terrified to learn she is not alone.
Steve’s character kidnaps women and sells their flesh on the black market for tons of money. He keeps them alive for as long as possible while slowly taking pieces of their flesh because this keeps the meat “fresh”.
This movie is disturbing, grotesque, terrifying and wonderful!
The movie does a great job of building suspense and tension. There are tons of twists and turns throughout the movie that keeps the viewer on the edge of their seat.
I highly recommend checking this movie out next time you are searching for a good horror movie!
