Does Body Count Matter?
Hook up culture is prevalent on college campuses. The biggest reason being that students are away from home and their parents, so there is no need to sneak around anymore.
Most find the number of one’s past sexual partners to be important in determining how experienced they are with sex. In today’s day in age young people refer to the amount of people you have had sex with as one’s “body count.” There are many different views when it comes to body count and whether it matters or not varies based on everyone. I asked many college students if body count matters to them and here are the mixed responses I received.
Many college students believe that body count matters due to a plethora of reasons. They want to protect themselves from potential STDs and unplanned pregnancies. Others do not want to be with someone who has multiple partners.
Vivica Birt says, “ Yes because you should know who else that person has been with so you can protect yourself.”
Many other college students do not think that body count matters. They believe if you are protecting yourself then it does not matter. Others believe that whoever they have been with is in the past and it should not matter.
Destiny Smith said, “No I don’t think the body count matters because I don’t care about what they did before me. As long as there is nothing wrong with them.”
Overall, the answer to the question of whether body count matters or not depends on whoever you ask. There is not a right or wrong answer to this question since it is based on one’s preference and opinion. Whether someone’s sexual past matters to you or not it is always important to protect your sexual health.
