Diversity Initiatives event to explain rights regarding ICE
On Wednesday, October 2 at 3:30 p.m in the Student Activity Center (SAC) Mezz, Diversity Initiatives will host the event “Know Your Rights Regarding ICE.”
This event is designed to confront questions students may be facing when it comes to unlawful deportation, undocumented families and the implications of U.S Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
Diversity Initiatives sought out to create an event that reflected the “current social climate.” They said they chose to tackle immigration in this event to educate the USC Aiken community.
In a separate email, Diversity Initiatives stated that students should know that they have “certain unalienable rights in all situations” and that those who may not be affected personally by ICE should also commit this fact to memory.
For more information on unlawful detainment and the implications of ICE in modern America, Diversity Initiatives encouraged students to attend the event and inquire with the speaker, as the answers to these questions are “deep, layered, and multi-faceted.”
This event is eligible for Inter-Curricular Enrichment (ICE) credit.
