S'more Stories with Broken Ink
On Oct. 25, 2023, Broken Ink and the Writing Center hosted S'more Stories. Editor-in-Chief Samantha Taylor explained about the inspiration behind the event:
"We wanted to do a fun event to boost engagement on campus, and it started from there."
There was also a costume contest in between stories. A “custom character costume” was the first-prize winner; Velma was the second-prize winner and won a $30 Target Gift Card, the second-place winner won a $20 Target Gift Card and Triceratops Dinosaur was the second-place winner won a $10 Target Gift Card.
"Each piece shared by faculty is centered around something educative, so we can make it an ICE event, but we also try to make it stay on a spooky theme.”
The event started with a lecture on horror movies by Dr. Amada Warren from 5-6 p.m. Afterwards, the S'more story began from 6-8 p.m. Dr. David Bruzina from the English Department was the first speaker; Dr. Angel Ranales from the Language Department was the second speaker; and Dr. Eric Carlson was the last.
