The university’s Student Government Association (SGA) will be hosting its Winter Wonderland semi-formal.
This event is intended to allow students to experience a different kind of campus event and provide some nostalgia. A semi-formal is a common occurrence for school students and is seen as a social event for everyone.
Richy “Appa” Modugu, Vice President of the Student Government Association represented the organization in speaking about the event.
“It’s an event that is familiar to most if not all students, having a similarity to high school prom but without the awkwardness.” -Richy Modugu on the event’s purpose
When COVID-19 caused the slowdown of the university it outwardly impacted student participation on campus. It’s been noted that students are not coming to university-sanctioned events at the level that they have in past years.
“There have been “proms” or formal pre-Covid, however, there has been nothing of that sort since then. This event has been hyped up to be the best event of the year."
Winter Wonderland will be on Jan. 26 and take place from 8:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.
