Areas To Visit In Aiken For The Fall
New to this town and don’t know different places to visit around the area for the fall season? If you said yes then you’re in the right spot. I’ll be discussing a few locations you have to try out at least once while attending USC Aiken.
The first place to visit is Hopelands Gardens. It’s about 11 minutes away from the campus. If you’re a fan of nature walks then this is the place to go and wine down while enjoying nature. It is a 14-acre nature walk with different locations with a public garden, fountains, pond with koi fish. The garden was founded by Mrs. C. Oliver Iselin opened in 1970 as a public garden for the city of Aiken and is still around today. You can visit this nature area any day throughout the week from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
If you’re into an aesthetically pleasing cafe shop then this next place is for you.
New Moon Cafe has been around since 1999 in the Downtown Aiken area and is about a 9-minute drive from campus. It’s not your typical corporate-styled coffee shop. They serve different coffee drinks all created by their own company and also different breakfast and brunch items as well. The menu is a variety from regular coffee to an iced latte to real fruit smoothies.
The overall environment of New Moon Cafe is a different experience compared to a Starbucks or Dunkin.
Lastly is the Aiken Polo Club. If you don’t know already from our school mascot, horses are very popular around the Aiken community and polo is a popular sport around the Aiken area.
The Aiken Polo Club is about 13 minutes from the campus and is currently in its playing season. The club was founded in 1882 and is one of the oldest and historic clubs in the United States. If you’re not too familiar with polo or have only seen it through the media this is your opportunity to check it out and learn what polo really is.
