Music Video Review: Now and Then

Music Video Review: Now and Then

The Beatles released their final song and music video on Nov. 3, 2023. The two living members left, Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr, embarked on the tedious task of reworking old audio and video clips to have a final tribute to their friends. Paul and Ringo worked alongside Peter Jackson to bring this dream to life.

The music video opens with clips of the different instruments and a tape recording as the song starts up.

Throughout the video, there are old clips of all four members at various points in their careers. There are also scenes with Paul and Ringo singing with John and George alongside them. There are also clips of current Ringo playing the drums alongside an older video of him.

The vocals are of Paul McCartney as well as old recordings of John Lennon.

This music video is a beautiful tribute to the band as Paul and Ringo can say goodbye to their friends as they close out The Beatles’ discography.

The lyrics in this song are very heartfelt as well:

“Now and then. I miss you. Oh, now and then. I want you to be there for me. Always return to me.”

This music video has gotten mixed reviews across the internet. Many fans find this to be a beautiful tribute to The Beatles and a great way for them to finish off their legacy, whereas other people find the old clips of the members who have passed as “weird.”

Personally, I love this video and song. As a lifelong Beatles fan, I found this video to be emotional and heartfelt. I think this was a wonderful farewell to fans.
